MANILA, June 5 - Philippine annual inflation eased to a 18-month low of 3.3 percent in May, below market estimates, the statistics office said on Friday.
Inflation in April was at 4.8 percent from a year earlier.
The market had expected May inflation to come in at an annual 3.7 percent, according to a Reuters poll earlier this week. That was within the central bank forecast of 3.3 to 4.2 percent.
Core inflation, which strips out some volatile food and energy items, edged down to an annual 4.4 percent in May from 5.0 percent in April.
