MANILA, May 21 - The Philippine government is confident that GDP growth in 2009 will come in the target range of 3.1-4.1 percent, Socio-Economic Planning Secretary Ralph Recto said on Thursday.
"We are confident of these numbers," Recto told reporters.
He also said growth in the second quarter was likely to be better than the forecast 1.8-2.8 percent year-on-year expansion in the first quarter because inflation was likely to ease.
First quarter growth data will be announced on May 28.
