The employment rise of 27,300 in April comprised of a rise of 49,100 in full-time employment, while part-time employment fell by 21,800.
A Reuters poll showed market forecasts of a fall of 25,000 in employment in April, with the unemployment rate rising to 5.9 percent and the participation rate lower at 65.4 percent.
