Rockwell Automation buys Rutter Hinz

Rockwell AutomationRockwell Automation has announced that it has agreed to purchase majority of the assets of engineering company Rutter Hinz, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Canada based Rutter.

Rutter Hinz has engineering expertise in industrial automation, process control and power distribution, specifically for the oil&gas industry, in addition to its pipeline, utility, mining, forestry and food&beverage sectors. The company management team and approximately 220 employees will join Rockwell Automation's Systems and Solutions Business Unit. Terry Gebert, vice president and general manager,  Rockwell Automation Systems and Solutions, said, "This acquisition will accelerate the growth of the Rockwell Automation business and reach in Canada's heavy industries and oil&gas markets. It will also enhance our Canadian oil sands opportunities by establishing a robust delivery capability in a major market with critical expertise."

The acquisition includes Rutter Hinz engineering and automation businesses in Canada and the US, but not its Newfoundland consulting engineering business or the assets of Rutter Technologies.
