Rockwell Automation introduces safety relay for motion applications

Published: 24 Apr 2009 01:33:58 PST

msrs57p_graphicAllen-Bradley has come up with Guardmaster Minotaur MSR57P, which is a safe-speed monitoring relay to help manufacturers improve plant productivity and safety with the latest technology. This is a first-of-its-kind safety relay, which is designed to allow personnel to enter hazardous areas while in motion. The device supports numerous input devices such as E-stops, light curtains, enabling switches and interlock switches, which detect demands on the safety system and initiate a stop request of the motion. It allows manufacturers to employ the most current safety strategies by providing the ability to reduce the risk of personnel injury well below tolerable levels without requiring a complete shutdown. Users can configure the safety relay with either Allen-Bradley DriveExplorer software or a human interface module (HIM device), using a variety of parameters to help meet specific application requirements, including safe direction, safe limited speed, and safe maximum speed with door control and monitoring.
