The Construction of Guzhen Town

For many years, Guzhen has constantly deepened the concept of “city economy”. It is working hard to build itself into a town with European style and Lingnan (South China) characteristics. A green ecological lighting capital where people can see green trees at the daytime while enjoy the beautiful lighting at night has thus come into being.

Guzhen has been constantly improving its image through high-standard planning, big investment and high-level management.

Sticking to the principle of “seeking exiting instead of possessing” and “seeking quality instead of quantity”, Guzhen has been trying its best to perfect the function of the town and further improve and upgrade its living and working environment.

Guzhen has been attaching great importance to the construction and protection of the environment and the ecological environment so as to develop harmony between human and nature.

Guzhen has been successively awarded many titles, namely, National Top 100 Towns with Sound Investment Environment, National Top 100 Towns for Forestation and Greenery, one of the first group of “Guandong’s Satellite Towns of Industry”, etc.

The downtown area of Guzhen was constructed at a high standard. Nowadays, the planning and completion of a group of important construction projects including International (YUCCA) Hotel, Guzhen Lighting Plaza, the Government Building, the King of  Lighting, the Building of Governmental Departments, new Guzhen Hospital and various real estate projects of the villages have refreshed the town with entirely new look.

Complete infrastructure facilities have been built in Guzhen. The transportation network of the town is well developed. The Guangzhou –Zhuhai Light Rail, Guzhen station will be finished in 2009, which will improve the communication network between Guzhen and the surrounding cities and towns. The water and electricity supply of the town is sufficient since there are one water plant with a daily supply capacity of 120,000 tons of water, three 110 KV transformer substations, one 220KV transformer substation.

Guzhen has been making great efforts to create favorable ecological environment. RMB 560 million will be invested into the building of the sewage treatment system for the whole town. The first phase of this project with a daily handling capacity of 50,000 tons of waste water will be finished very soon. Big trees are planted in every village and along main roads of the town and the greenery areas of Guzhen are enlarging as well.

Guzhen has been putting great efforts in developing its city economy and accelerating the overall development of politics, economy, culture and environment so as to improve the charm and the image of the town, attracting people, commodities and capitals within  a radius area of 30-50 kms to come to the town and build Guzhen into an internationally famous town suitable for business, innovation and residence .
