Lakeside Design sets sail with 3 domestic groups

Lakeside Design, a new domestic supplier of case goods, is making its debut at the High Point Market this week in space 1-622 at the Suites at Market Square with three collections of furniture it describes as better goods at affordable prices.

Jason Hedrick and Scott Krodel launched the Indiana-based company earlier this year.

One of its new groups, the Bentwood Collection, features a coffee table, end table, mirror, console table and étagère with steam-bent maple rims, solid maple legs, short grain walnut veneer accent panels and hand-rubbed finishes. Wholesale pricing for the line ranges from $356 for the mirror to $895 for the étagère.

The Exodus collection is a four-piece group that includes a coffee table, end table, mirror and console table in natural cherry solid wood, walnut accents and inlaid walnut square pegs as accent motifs. Wholesale prices range from $300 for the mirror to $799 for the coffee table.

"Our third collection, Genesis, blends the quality of heirloom cherry with contemporary brushed stainless steel to offer a true timeless look," said Hedrick.

Wholesale pricing for Genesis ranges from $370 for the mirror to $1,999 for the curio.

"We feel driven to protect the worker here in America, which is why we are working with a number of quality factories, in this case, in Ohio," said Kodel. "We are at a time in our nation where the spirit of America needs to be awakened, and we see this effort as a way to make that happen."

The two principals said they also believe there is a demand for high-end furniture that is domestically made.
"We will be out there going against some very good and very established companies including Bernhardt, Stickley, Harden (Furniture), Hickory White and Century," Hedrick said.

"And we know we need a point of differentiation," added Krodel. "And for us, we believe it is superior quality at prices that are extremely favorable."
