USDA launches Spanish food safety podcasts

Published: 15 Jun 2009 04:20:31 PST

The United States Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) is introducing a Spanish language Food Safety at Home podcast series. It is another convenient and innovative way for the Spanish-speaking community to learn the four basic steps of the ‘Be Food Safe campaign: Clean, Separate, Cook and Chill’.
"These podcasts are part of an FSIS initiative to educate Spanish-speaking consumers on safe food handling practices and the risks associated with foodborne illness. Each episode will discuss valuable information on the safe handling, preparation, and storage of meat, poultry, and processed egg products when cooking at home," said Al Almanza, administrator, FSIS.

The podcasts feature public health experts discussing a variety of topics that will help consumers keep their food safe.
