NEW YORK, Feb 2 - The S&P 500 and Nasdaq gained on Monday boosted by beaten-down shares of information technology companies after a report showed that U.S. factory activity slowed less sharply in January than expected.
* Microsoft Corp, among the biggest boosts, was up 5.3 percent to $18.
* The Dow Jones industrial average was down 34.88 points, or 0.44 percent, at 7,965.98. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was up 1.11 points, or 0.13 percent, at 826.99. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 14.39 points, or 0.97 percent, at 1,490.81.
