NEW DELHI, Jan 14 - Qatar's Rasgas is in talks with Kuwait Petroleum Corp (KPC) that are expected to be concluded by March, to supply liquefied natural gas (LNG) over five years starting from mid-2009, a top RasGas official said.

RasGas aims to supply 1.4 million tonnes per year (tpy) of LNG to KPC via the new contract, said Hamad Rashid Al-Mohannadi, managing director (CEO) of Rasgas Company Ltd.

"Currently we are in discussions with Kuwait for a mid-term (LNG supply) contract. It is for summer supplies," he told Reuters on the sidelines of the Petrotech Conference in the Indian capital.

"We expect to begin supplies from the middle of this year and we hope to conclude talks in the first quarter."
