NEW YORK, Nov 18 - General Electric Co's chief executive said on Tuesday he is confident in the U.S. conglomerate's ability to weather the current economic turmoil.
"GE's business model continues to prove itself. Even in a tough economy, we'll have one of the highest earnings years in the company's history in 2008," GE Chairman and CEO Jeff Immelt said in New York.
Immelt said he had seen no surprising changes to the economic picture so far this quarter.
"Everybody's getting prepared for a challenging 2009," Immelt said at a GE briefing in New York on its health-care business.
