PRAGUE --Czech annual inflation slowed sharply in November to 4.4%, from 6.0% in October, largely due to stagnation in food prices and an accelerating annual fall in prices for transportation, the Czech Statistics Office, or CSU, said Monday.
The November figure was below the 4.6% year-on-year rise forecast in a Dow Jones Newswires's poll of eight economists.
On the month, consumer prices fell 0.5% in November after being flat on the month in October, while on a 12-month rolling average, inflation stood at 6.5% in November, from 6.6% in October, the CSU said.
Food prices grew only 0.9% annually in November compared with a 5.9% rise in October, while transportation costs, including fuels, fell 5.6% annually in November, following a 0.7% annual decrease in October.
