BEIJING, July 28 - China's state energy group CNPC on Tuesday said it has completed construction of a 10,000-barrel-per-day refinery in Algeria under an engineering and construction contract worth $385 million.
CNPC's engineering and construction unit put the plant, a condensate splitter in eastern Algeria, into operation over the weekend after 39 months of work, a report on CNPC's website www.cnpc.com.cn said.
Africa is a focal area for Chinese state oil companies, for equity investment in oil and gas production and engineering projects including pipelines and refineries.
CNPC is the parent of PetroChina <0857.HK>, Asia's largest oil and gas produder.
