(Adds comment from Iran's OPEC governor, Qatari official)
DUBAI, June 16 - Qatar will host a ministerial meeting for gas exporting nations on June 30, its state-run news agency said on Tuesday.
Russia, Bolivia, Algeria, Libya, Iran and Venezuela were among the countries expected to attend the meeting, Abdulaziz al-Malki, the director of the office for Qatar's oil minister told the Qatar News Agency.
The meeting of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) will discuss the gas market and the appointment of a secretary general for the body, Iran's OPEC Governor Mohammad Ali Khatibi told Reuters..
Member countries had until a few days before the meeting on June 30 to propose candidates for the post, Khatibi said. Candidates will be vetted at a GECF board meeting the day before ministers meet, he added.
Other items on the agenda will be staffing the headquarters in Doha and the organisation's budget and membership fees, Khatibi said.
The GECF last held a ministerial meeting in December in Moscow, when members agreed a charter for the forum. Until then, it had been an informal talking shop for some of the world's top gas producers and exporters.
To date, 13 countries have confirmed they will attend the forum, a Qatari official said on Tuesday. He was unable to say if all countries will send their energy ministers.
