HONG KONG --China Coal Energy Co. (1898.HK) said Wednesday its parent China National Coal Group Corp. has been granted a coal export quota of 6.55 million metric tons for the second half of this year.
Zhou Dongzhou, the board secretary at China Coal Energy, said most of the parent's coal export quota will be reserved for the listed company. He didn't give a breakdown of the quotas for the two firms.
China National Coal Group said Tuesday its total export volume was 13.73 million tons during the January-October period.
The issue of the second-half quotas was delayed, which some foreign coal traders attributed to China's policy of reducing exports to meet its own rising domestic demand.
Last week China Shenhua Energy Co. (1088.HK) said its parent, Shenhua Group Corp., had received the second coal export quota of 6.55 million tons from the National Development and Reform Commission.
