Sep. 22, 2008 (China Knowledge) - Hong Kong-listed TPV Technologies<903>, one of the world's top monitor manufacturers, plans to build an LCD module and LCD television plant in Nanhai district, Foshan, Guangdong Province, the Chinese newspaper First Financial Daily reported.

The newspaper cited some insider as saying that the new manufacturing facility will have the capacity of producing 10 million LCD modules and 7 million LCD TV sets annually, with a combined value of RMB 30 billion.

TPV has already set up plants in Beijing, Ningbo, Wuhan, Suzhou and Fuqing and is actively expanding its business to the flat-panel sector and wish to find a new site for its LCD TV module project as well as to increase the production capacity of its large LCD televisions.

Nanhai is a good choice for its new site, where Chi Mei Optoelectronics (CMO) is located. CMO acquired 7.66% in TPV for HK$811 million last December and will be the exclusive CELL and LCD module provider to TPV in the next three years, according to the source.
