US Senate health plan includes public option-senator
Published: 18 Nov 2009 17:31:08 PSTWASHINGTON, Nov 18 - U.S. Democratic Senator Kent Conrad said on Wednesday the Senate's healthcare overhaul will include a government-run insurance option that states can choose not to participate in.
Conrad told reporters after a meeting of Senate Democrats the bill to be unveiled by Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid also would raise the Medicare payroll tax for high earners and include a levy on high-cost insurance plans.
