Indian army vehicles protected by DSM's unidirectional composites

Published: 05 Jan 2009 22:25:17 PST

TANKDSM's Dyneema® HB26 unidirectional (UD) composites has been selected by Anjani Technoplast Ltd, one of the leading manufacturers based in New Delhi, to supply protective, rigid panels to Ordnance Factory, India. These in turn, will be used in armouring mine-protected vehicles of the Indian Army.

Dyneema® HB26 UD was selected due to its robust ballistic performance combined with additional advantages like high stiffness, excellent acoustic and flame-retardant properties, to ensure superior quality and protection. Further, the material's lightweight will enhance vehicle speed, maneuverability and enable higher payloads, while minimising the negative effect the armour can have on a vehicle's centre of gravity. In addition, Dyneema HB26UD provides high-performance over a wide temperature range, UV protection, and noise reduction through acoustic absorption.
