UPDATE 1-Ford U.S. Nov sales flat, plans output increase

* Ford U.S. sales 123,167 units in Nov, flat from yr ago

* Q1 production to increase by 58 percent from Q1 2009

* Sales unadjusted for two fewer selling days in Nov '09

DETROIT, Dec 1 - Ford Motor Co <F.N> on Tuesday posted flat U.S. sales for November from a year ago despite fewer selling days, and said it plans to build 58 percent more vehicles in North America in the first quarter.

Ford, the only major U.S. automaker not to file for bankruptcy this year, set first-quarter production plans for North America at 550,000 vehicles, an increase of 201,000 units compared with the first quarter of 2009.

The No.2 U.S. automaker said sales for its Ford, Lincoln and Mercury brands fell 0.2 percent to 118,536 vehicles in November.

Including Volvo -- the premium brand Ford is seeking to sell -- Ford sold 123,167 units in November, compared with 123,222 vehicles a year earlier.

The figures were unadjusted for two fewer selling days in November of this year, compared with November 2008.

Ford shares were up 1.7 percent, or 15 cents, at $9.04 on the New York Stock Exchange at midday on Tuesday. (Reporting by Soyoung Kim, editing by Matthew Lewis) (
