Shanghai GM vehicles to use OnStar safety services

Shanghai, November 2 (Gasgoo.com) Shanghai OnStar Telematics Co. Ltd., a joint venture between General Motors, SAIC Group and Shanghai GM, has announced that OnStar services will be activated and fully operational in China in December 2009 one some Cadillac, Buick and Chevrolet vehicles, PRNewswire reported.

Shanghai GM will eventually make this life-saving service available on its full portfolio of products, beginning with Cadillac, then Buick and finally Chevrolet. The passenger car venture between SAIC and GM will provide one year of OnStar as standard to customers in mainland China with OnStar equipped vehicles.

The services will include automatic crash response, emergency services, automatic airbag deployment response, vehicle diagnostics, on-demand diagnostics, 'good Samaritan,' stolen vehicle location, remote door unlock, remote horn and lights, roadside assistance, hands-free calling, point of interest, turn-by-turn navigation and destination download.
