Ford Motor Co held talks with France's Renault SA and China's Dongfeng Motor Group to sell Volvo, which the US automaker bought in 1999, said sources in a Reuters report.
The Ford spokesman declined to make any direct comments on this issue, but he said the company announced earlier this year that Volvo is not for sale.
But the sources in the report said the automaker has been meeting with interested parties.
In the last two years, Ford sold Aston Martin, Jaguar and Land Rover. In 2009, Volvo lost $151 million in the first quarter.
