VW Up! costs RMB 8,600 to produce in India

German-based auto maker Volkswagen is planning to make Up! in India, with a production cost of €900 (8,600 yuan) each.
But the production cost for India does not include the cost of the raw materials. Volkswagen plans to sell Up! at a retail price of about €9,000.
The Volkswagen Up! was first shown as a concept car at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2007. The 4-seater Up! is a rear-engined, rear wheel drive car that is 3.45 meter long. At that time, VW said they planned to make 1.4 million models of Up!.
