Apr. 28, 2010 (China Knowledge) - Chinese telecom operators saw their revenue from core business grow 5.3% year on year to RMB 209.66 billion in the first three months of this year, according to statistics released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
The industry's total business volume was RMB 714.1 billion during the period from January to March, up 21.7% from the same period of last year, said the ministry.
Revenue from mobile telecom business increased 11.3% year on year to RMB 141.73 billion in the first three months, accounting for 67.60% of the total core business revenue. The ratio was 63.93% in the same period of 2009.
Income from fixed-line telecom business dropped 5.4% from a year earlier to RMB 67.93 billion, accounting for 32.40% of the total core business revenue.
Chinese operators' core business revenue in East China increased 6.2% during the period, while revenue in Central China and revenue in West China grew 9.4% and 10.2% year on year, respectively.
