Skoda to account for 20% of Shanghai VW's 2010 sales

Sales of Skoda brand cars accounted for 16% of Shanghai VW's total sales in 2009. The company expects to see the proportion increase to 30% eventually, said Zhang. In the first quarter of this year, Skoda sold 42,707 cars in China, 112% more than in the same quarter of last year. Shanghai Volkswagen sold a total of 221,191 cars in the period. Skoda sales in China surged 108% year on year to 123,000 units last year, helping make Shanghai VW the auto sales champion in 2009. Shanghai VW sold a total of 708,100 cars in China last year, ranking first on the list of the top 10 auto producers released by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.
