Mar. 12, 2010 (China Knowledge) - China Guangdong Nuclear Power Holdings Corp, a wholly-owned subsidiary of China Guangdong Nuclear Power Group, is in talks with Areva SA, the world's biggest nuclear reactor builder, on a series of international projects, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing Qian Zhimin, chairman of CGNPHC, as saying.

Last December, CGNPG and Areva launched a joint venture to develop next generation nuclear power plants.

CGNPG said its nuclear power installed capacity may reach 34 million kW by 2020, accounting for more than 50% of the country's total.

CGNPG last month inked a memorandum of understanding with Ukraine National Nuclear Power Corp to cooperate on the nuclear power sector. Pursuant to the MOU, the two companies will exchange opinions on the design, construction, operation and maintenance of nuclear plants. In addition, they will share research on nuclear power equipment as well as staff training, China Knowledge reported earlier.
