Taiwan car companies ready to import Chinese mainland cars

Taiwan's Yulon General Motors announced November 4 that once the Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement (ECFA) is signed by Beijing and Taipei, the company will import vehicles from Shanghai GM.

Yulon GM's general manager Pan Furen said that Shanghai GM's ample models have received much praise in the Chinese mainland, and he hoped to enhance the company's competitive auto sales in Taiwan. He made the statement during a press conference Wednesday about the imports of the Opel Corsa to Taiwan.

The general agent of Volkswagen in Taiwan, Taikoo Motors, is considering importing vehicles from the Chinese mainland's FAW Volkswagen or SAIC Volkswagen.
AnotherTaiwan-based auto company, CMC Motor (China Motor Corporation), is planning to invest in Southeast Motor based in Fuzhou, Fujian Province. CMC wants to  make the Delica van and import it into Taiwan to cut costs. The company may sell the passenger vehicle Colt Plus to the Chinese mainland as well.
