Painted Ferrari goes under the hammer for $1.75m

The 599 China, painted in cracked porcelain was won by an anonymous bidder from Shanghai with the final price at $1.75 million. The proceeds from the auction will help fund students and professors from Tsinghua University's Department of Automotive Engineering to study in Italy's Politecnico di Milano University and have internships at Ferrari.

The auction was held at Red Gate Gallery in Beijing, November 4. It was attended by Ferrari owners and collectors, as well as Ferrari Asia Pacific CEO Marco Mattiacci, artist Lu Hao, Professors Cen Zhangzhi of Tsinghua University Cen Zhangzhi and Bruno Pizzigoni from Politecnico di Milano University.
