Nov. 4, 2009 (China Knowledge) - Chinese stocks ended higher in the morning trading session on Wednesday. The Shanghai Composite Index, which covers both A shares and B shares on the Shanghai Stock Exchange, edged up 0.6% or 18.71 points and closed at 3,132.93 points in the morning session. The Shenzhen Component Index on the smaller Shenzhen Stock Exchange increased 0.89% or 114.1 points to stand at 12,973.96 points. Railway stocks ended higher. Daqin Railway Co Ltd<601006>, China's first railway company listed in the domestic stock market, swelled 5.29% to RMB 10.54. Guangshen Railway Co Ltd<601333><0525> grew 3.2% to RMB 4.52. Aluminum Corp of China Ltd<601600><2600><ACH>, the nation's largest aluminum producer, rose 5.59% to RMB 14.93. Gold firms also gained in the morning. Shandong Gold Mining Co<600547>, China's second-largest listed gold miner, grew 3.13% to RMB 70.49. Power equipment manufactures were also among the winners. Guangzhou Zhiguang Electric Co Ltd<002169> surged by the daily limit of 10.01% to RMB 17.47. Shenzhen HiFuture Electric Co Ltd<002168> rose 3.56% to RMB 15.41.
