Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC) has developed plug-in hybrid electromechanical coupling technology, and completed its new-energy industrial chain with the technology applied to electric-driven transmissions, according to the Xinhua News Agency.
The new technology can help SAIC avoiding technical barriers from Toyota and GM's hybrid products, and produce SAIC’s own electric vehicles in 2012.
SAIC has an almost 100 person team developing new energy vehicles. The new technology will be gradually put into use for its Roewe 750 in 2010, and Roewe 550 in 2012.
