China's third largest automaker Dongfeng Motor has signed with Dongfeng Motor Korea (DFMK) to export vehicles from April 2010, according to the JoongAng Daily.
DFMK will sell four models: one-ton trucks, commercial minivans and a six- and nine-passenger vans. The company plans to import passenger vehicles later because the sedans are not yet up to the standard set by Korean automakers with regards to their interior and engine. Also, trucks and vans with lower prices and higher quality are preferred by private entrepreneurs with small operations.
"The vehicles are 30 percent cheaper than Korean vehicles and will therefore be competing for the attention of private entrepreneurs," said Lee Chul-woong, a DFMK executive.
