Oct. 30, 2009 (China Knowledge) - Japan's Sony Corp, one of the world's largest media conglomerates, will have purchased US$10 billion worth of electronic components and products in Taiwan by the end of the year and will buy even more in the coming years, said Kenji Sakai, chairman and managing director of Sony Taiwan, a local newspaper reported yesterday. The Japanese electronics maker will order more LCD panels from its joint ventures with Sharp Corp and Samsung Electronics Co Ltd, the world's largest LCD panel manufacturer. Taiwan's Hon Hai Precision Industry Co, the biggest contract manufacturer of electronics in the world, will become Sony's biggest supplier in Taiwan, said Sakai. Taiwan has become Sony's biggest supplier of LCD TVs, handsets and video game consoles, said Sakai. However, the company reportedly decided to cut TV panel orders with AU Optronics Corp to 5% in 2010, as Sony's JV with Sharp has already begun production. Copyright © 2009 www.chinaknowledge.com |
