Oct. 27, 2009 (China Knowledge) - Hong Kong stocks fell on Tuesday. The Hang Seng Index, the benchmark, opened 572 points lower at 22,016. After touching the intraday low of 22,016.79 points, the blue-chip Hang Seng Index fell 420.14 points or 1.86% to close at 22,169.59. Mainboard turnover rose to HK$42.84 billion. The Hang Seng China Enterprise Index, which tracks the overall performance of 43 Chinese mainland state-owned enterprises on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, slid 170.43 points or 1.28% to 13,145.95 points. Market heavyweight HSBC Holdings Plc<0005><HBC>, which accounts for the largest weighting for the Hang Seng Index, decreased 2.71% to HK$87.9. Asia Cassava Resources Holdings Ltd<0841> surged 22.68% to HK$2.38. Neo-Neon Holdings Ltd<1868> surged 14.74% to HK$5.76. Auto stocks ended mixed. Denway Motors Ltd<0203> rose 3.92% to HK$3.98. Great Wall Motor Co Ltd<2333> swelled 6.17% to HK$8.77. Dongfeng Motor Group Co Ltd<0489> decreased 3.02% to HK$9.64. Sinotruk (Hong Kong) Ltd<3808> increased 4.35% to HK$10.08. BYD Co Ltd<1211> slid 0.35% to HK$85.2. China Motor Bus Co Ltd<0026> slipped 0.51% to HK$59. Stocks of airline firms were weak. Air China Ltd<601111><0753> fell 2.04% to HK$4.32. China Eastern Airlines Co Ltd<600115><0670><CEA> went down 0.88% and closed at HK$2.25. China Southern Airlines Ltd<600029><1055><ZNH> slid 2.05% to HK$2.39.
