Oct. 26, 2009 (China Knowledge) - LL Bean, Inc, a U.S.-based retailer of outdoor gear and apparel, aims to have 40 stores in China by the end of this year, after entering the Chinese market last year, the Shanghai Daily reported.

The company plans to open 20 new stores in the country within this year and will increase the number to 80 next year. In the meantime, it will mainly focus on retail next year, but catalogue sales and e-commerce are also under planning.

In 2008, LL Bean opened its first China store in Beijing's Solana Mall, which is located in Chaoyang Park, one of the largest urban parks in Asia. The store offers about 3,000 square feet of retail space.
