A person from Vollswagen (China) revealed Wednesday that the company will build a new DSG twin-clutch gearbox factory in Dalian, Liaoning Province, and it will be completed in 2012. Once in operation, the annual production of DSGs will be over 500,000 units.
The DSG twin-clutch gearbox has the advantage of manual and automatic transmissions. It can not only switch easily and conveniently, but also can save on gas, making it one of the leading fuel efficient technologies in the field of transmissions.

Currently, Volkwagen is discussing with its cooperation partner about investment, and it is very likely that FAW and SAIC will become investors. The new factory will also specialize in producing the DSG twin-clutch gearbox.
Two years ago, Volkwagen built a DSG twin-clutch gearbox factory, and invested over $400 million or over 3 billion yuan.
According to Volkwagen's promise in China, the average gas consumption of all Volkwagen cars in 2010 would be 20 percent lower than 2005 levels. Currently, the average has decreased to 17 percent.
