Oct. 23, 2009 (China Knowledge) - United Overseas Bank, the second-largest listed bank in Singapore, has opened a new branch in Tianjin, one of the four municipalities in China.

UOB Tianjin branch is the first branch set up by the Singaporean bank outside its Shanghai headquarters after its local incorporation two years ago.

Tianjin has attracted much attention in Singapore since the eco-city started construction in September and it will add further depth and breadth to the bilateral relations, said Wee Cho Yaw, chairman of UOB Group, at the opening ceremony for the latest branch in Tianjin yesterday.

The new branch offers a wide range of financial services, including RMB-denominated banking services to foreign and local enterprises and foreign retail customers.

Incorporated in December 2007, United Overseas Bank (China) Ltd has a registered capital of RMB 300 billion and has set up 10 branches in key Chinese cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Xiamen, Chengdu, Shenyang and Tianjin.
