Oct. 23, 2009 (China Knowledge) - Taiwan-based Acer Inc, the world's third-largest PC brand, on Thursday revealed that it expects its operating revenue will grow by 70% in the next three years, thanks to increasing sales of PCs and handsets, local media in Taiwan reported.

Acer Chairman Wang Jeng-tang predicted that the firm's annual operating revenue will reach US$30 billion.

The launch of Windows 7 operating system in Taiwan will spur a wave of replacement of commercial PCs in the second half of 2010, said Scott Lin, Acer's president of Taiwan operations.

It is estimated that Acer's commercial PC shipments will grow by 30% compared with the beginning of this year, added Lin.

Acer on Thursday released a series of multi-touch PCs with Windows 7 OS in Taiwan. The pre-sale activities showed a positive response to the new OS, said Lin.

Acer shipped 10.96 million PCs globally in the third quarter of this year, 25.6% more than in the same period of last year, China Knowledge reported earlier.
