Guangdong to have 580 7-Eleven stores by year-end

Oct. 21, 2009 (China Knowledge) - Guangdong Saiyi Convenience Store Ltd, the operator of convenience 7-Eleven stores in South China, aims to have 580 7-Eleven stores in Guangdong Province by the end of the year, sources reported.

Guangdong Saiyi recently opened the 550th 7-Eleven store in Guangzhou, the provincial capital. The company said 60 of the 580 stores in the province will be franchised outlets and expects to increase to the number of franchised stores to 100 in 2010.

President Chain Store Corp, the operator of 7-Eleven stores in Taiwan and Shanghai, plans to open 13 to 15 outlets in Shanghai by the end of 2009 and to have 300 stores in the city over the next five years, China Knowledge reported earlier.

The world's largest convenience retailer opened its mainland store in Guangzhou in 1997. It currently operates 75 outlets in Beijing and 512 stores in Guangzhou.
