Oct. 19, 2009 (China Knowledge) - Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co Ltd, the world's largest contract manufacturer of microchips by revenue, will help organize the International Conference on Computer-Aided Design in Xiamen, a key city in Fujian Province, said Tzeng Jinn-haw, the firm's spokesman, sources reported.

The conference will have a positive impact on TSMC's mainland business, added Tzeng.

Local regulators in Xiamen invited TSMC to join with mainland institutions such as China Semiconductor Industry Association and Xiamen Science and Technology Bureau to organize the conference.

The international conference, which will be held between Dec. 2 and Dec. 4, is expected to attract major mainland chip makers.

TSMC is the only Taiwan-based enterprise to take part as an organizer of the conference.

The firm's operating revenue grew 21.19% and reached NT$89.94 in the third quarter of this year. The firm predicted that its fourth quarter business performance will be about the same as that of the third quarter.
