The Hurun list of the richest women in the Chinese mainland was released Thursday, and Zhang Yin, founder and director of the family-run company Nine Dragons Paper Holdings, tops the list with 33 billion yuan.
Yang Huiyan from property developer Country Garden Holdings and Chen Lihua from Fu Wah International Group, a Hong Kong-registered company focusing on real estate development, followed after Zhang with assets worth 31 billion yuan and 23 billion yuan respectively.
There are 51 names on this year's Hurun list of the richest women, and they are selected from the 104 people listed in the annual "Hurun the Richest People in China List" that was released in Beijing on October 13.
The total wealth of the 51 women is 337.6 billion yuan, and the average is 6.6 billion yuan, up 1.5 billion yuan compared to last year. There are nine richest women on the list whose health exceeded 10 billion yuan.
Names from the property industry topped the list with 16, followed by those in finance and investment, and then manufacturing.
Fourteen names are from enterprises with headquarters in Guangdong Province, the most on the list.
The average age of the entrepreneurs on this year's list is 46, one year older than the average age last year.
"Chinese women make up more than half the world's richest self-made women," said Rupert Hoogewerf, author of the Hurun rich list.
