Oct. 15, 2009 (China Knowledge) - ZTE Corp<000063><0763>, the largest listed telecommunications equipment and network solutions provider in China, said on Wednesday that it has signed a supply agreement with Unitech Wireless, a joint venture between Norway's Telenor Group and India's Unitech.

Under the terms of the agreement, ZTE will provide GSM systems and core network equipment for a period of five years across the circles of Delhi, Madhya, Pradesh, and Haryana, ZTE said in a statement.

Unitech Wireless holds the license to provide mobile phone services across all 22-telecom circles in India. The company is planning to roll out services in selected circles by the end of 2009 under the brand of Uninor.

ZTE's GSM equipment will allow Unitech Wireless to evolve its network infrastructure as required, thereby helping reduce network evolution cost, lower TCO and continuously enhance profitability.

More than 60 operators in over 50 countries worldwide have deployed ZTE's GSM equipment, and the installation of mobile capacity has exceeded 200 million lines.
