Caijing Magazine business chief quits

Published: 12 Oct 2009 00:02:01 PST

Caijing general manager Wu Chuanhui resigned from her post September 25 and eight of her nine business directors have followed her and resigned as well, according to a report Monday from the South China Morning Post (SCMP).

The resignations heighten speculation that the mainland’s most influential business publication may change ownership and its managing editor Hu Shuli may leave and start her own publication.

According to the SCMP, about 70 percent of the little more than 100 staff in the business department had resigned or would submit letters soon.

Deemed as “the most important partner” by Hu, Wu was vice president of SEEC Media Group Limited in charge of media development and investment before she joined Caijing in 2006.

Rumors of Hu’s resignation have been circulating for weeks and Caijing published a statement on September 28 denying any personnel changes.
