A spokesman from China's Ministry of Commerce expressed its appreciation that India will terminate its tariffs on China-imported tires. The Indian Ministry of Finance made the statement on September 30.
The spokesman said this decision does not only enhance bilateral trade between the two countries, but also facilitates the development of India's downstream enterprises.
He also said China hopes to strengthen communication and cooperation on bilateral trade issues with the Indian government to achieve a win-win situation.
India started a special protectionist investigation, or tariffs on China-imported tires on May 18 this year.
In a separate ruling on September 23, the Indian government gave its final decision on the special protectionist investigation that India launched on Chinese-made steering knuckles, front axle beams and crank shafts of vehicles, saying that India will not impose special protectionist tariffs on these products since no evidence shows these China-imported products caused market disorder.
