Oct. 7, 2009 (China Knowledge) - China's Ministry of Commerce said on Tuesday that it is "dissatisfied" with the EU's final ruling to impose anti-dumping tariffs on seamless steel pipes from China. The move ignores global trade rules, said the MOC, urging the EU to provide more evidence to prove the accusation under world trade rules. Under the EU ruling, a five-year anti-dumping tax, ranging from 17.7% to 39.2%, will be levied on seamless steel tubes and aluminum foil imported from China as Chinese imports might cause material injury or threat. However, an MOC official argued that the threat of material injury is strictly defined by the World Trade Organization rules and should not be cited as a reason for anti-dumpling ruling. China has data to prove that Chinese steel pipe exports to the EU are priced at market rates and EU has failed to keep its promise to oppose protectionism made at the G20 summit, added the official.
