The third ARJ 21-700 jet makes its maiden flight at an airport in Shanghai Saturday.

The home-grown ARJ-21, short for “Advanced Regional Jet for the 21st Century," witnessed its first two flights last November and this July.

With 90 seats, the aircraft rolled off the production line in 2007.

The commercial plane has so far received 208 orders from home and abroad, including 25 ordered by the GE Commercial Aviation Services, the largest aircraft-leasing company in the US.

The developer, Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, also announced that a fourth jet would be tested this year.
