Aug. 13, 2009 (China Knowledge) - The 9th China Xinjiang International Agricultural Fair opened Wednesday in the northwestern city of Urumqi and attracted 110,000 business people from around the world, the People's Daily reported. This year's fair, which features exhibitions of fertilizers, pesticides and seeds, is larger than the previous eight in terms of both visitors and scope. Representatives of 987 companies from 15 countries and regions are attending the three-day event. Visiting agricultural enterprises have signed contracts with local enterprises and agricultural organizations. The contracts thus far have involved a total weight of 647,000 tons and a combined value of RMB 2.13 billion.
