Aug. 11, 2009 (China Knowledge) - BNP Paribas, the biggest lender in France, announced on Monday that it has appointed Margaret Ren as chairman and CEO of corporate finance, Greater China, to lead the expansion of its investment banking business in the region. Ren will report to Christian de Charnace, BNP Paribas head of corporate finance for Asia Pacific, the company said in a statement, adding that the appointment is the next logical step in its expansion plan. The company plans to expand its investment banking capabilities in the greater China region under Ren's leadership and aims to further strengthen its leading positions in the equities and merger and acquisitions, said the company. Ren was managing director and chairman of China Investment Banking at Merrill Lynch (Asia Pacific) Ltd and has an extensive network of contacts and an in-depth knowledge of the market.
