HP to build software outsourcing service center in Suzhou

Jul. 20, 2009 (China Knowledge) - Hewlett-Packard Co (HP), the world's biggest computer maker, last week inked a memorandum of understanding with the municipal government of Suzhou, a major city in Jiangsu Province, to build a software outsourcing service center in the city.

The outsourcing service center will provide HP's foreign and domestic clients in Suzhou with services such as consulting, design, development, testing, implementation and management.

According to the MOU, the two sides will first cooperate to build a data center and information management and service platform in the International Technology Park in Suzhou Industrial Park.

They also plan to build a public logistics platform and a public information technology service platform for small and medium-sized enterprises in Suzhou.

HP will take advantage of the wealth of human resources in the city to carry out those projects, said Joe Eazor, a senior vice president and general manager of EDS, an HP company, adding that the city, which is in a coastal province, also has geographical advantages.

Suzhou hopes that the sales revenue of software industry in the city will hit RMB 20 billion in 2010, and that RMB 22 billion will be generated from the information service industry.
