Jul. 20, 2009 (China Knowledge) - BMW AG, the world's largest premium car maker, is recalling 135 2008 BMW1-Series and 2008 BMW3-Series sedans in China because of airbag system defects, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said on Friday, the official Xinhua News Agency reported. The country's quality authority said in a statement that the crimp connectors installed to the side airbag and seatbelt tension wire failed to meet design standards. The airbags and seatbelts in the affected vehicles could malfunction in an accident. The sedans were produced between May 23, 2008 and Jul. 21, 2008 and all were imported, said the administration. BMW will check and repair the airbag system for free. Last month, BMW recalled 1,694 BMW 7-series sedans because of flawed gas pipes. Copyright © 2009 www.chinaknowledge.com |
