Jul. 20, 2009 (China Knowledge) - Taiwan-based Acer Inc shipped 8.43 million PCs in the second quarter of this year, ranking the third after global PC brands HP and Dell, while Lenovo Group Ltd<0992> took fourth place shipping 5.76 million PCs, according to statistics recently released by research firm Interactive Data Corp. IDC's statistics show that HP accounted for 19.8% of Q2 global PC shipments, while Dell accounted for 19.8%. Meanwhile, Asian PC makers Acer, Lenovo and Toshiba accounted for 12.7%, 8.7% and 5.3%, respectively. Global PC shipments in Q2 2009 reached 660,000 units, down 3.1% year on year, due to the global economic recession, according to IDC.
