China's imports, exports continue falling in Jun

Jul. 13, 2009 (China Knowledge) - China's total value of imports and exports amounted to US$182.57 billion in June, down 17.7% compared with a year ago, according to statistics released by the General Administration of Customs.

Exports declined 21.4% year on year to US$95.41 billion in June, but rose 7.5% compared with May. Imports stood at US$87.16 billion, down 13.2% year on year.

In the first half of this year, exports decreased 21.8% from a year earlier to US$521.53 billion, while imports were down 25.4% and reached US$424.59 billion.

Exports of textiles and garments declined 8.5% year on year to US$45.86 billion in the first six months, while exports of mechanical and electrical products decreased 21.2% to US$306.67 billion.

Imports of crude oil dipped 0.3% year on year to 90.77 million tons in the first half of this year, while imports of automobiles decreased 31.4% to 145,000 units.

Bilateral trade volume between E.U. and China amounted to US$159.97 billion, down 20.9% year on year. The U.S. and Japan were the second and third largest trade partners. The trade value between China and the U.S. declined 16.6% to US$132.09 billion, while the trade value between China and Japan fell 23.1%, reaching US$99.73 billion.
